Enhancing Heritage Spaces for Active Communities
Repaint and upgrade walls, woodwork and floors of the Coast Centre's interiors for over 25000 users every year.
enough points to be successful.
What’s this project about?
This project will provide the Coast Centre for Seniors with capacity to continue to offer its members, friends and community well maintained activity spaces for health promotion classes. This maintains and enhances attendance levels, which in turn adds to the Centre's viability. At the same time the Centre gains further potential for financial independence by being able to hire out its heritage spaces for the contemporary community to enjoy.
Benefits to the community will come from expanding the number of community members who can attend the Centre's health promotion classes when safety and cleanliness are enhanced. Repainting and repair of heritage window frames reduces the risk of accidents posed by broken glass and thread bare window sashes while restored timber floors enhances aesthetic appeal and reduced injury potential from high impact dancing.
The Coast Centre for Seniors Incorporated will undertake all the work covered in this project during December and January when the Centre's program is in its summer recess. The Centre has managed its heritage properties on the former Prince Henry Hospital site for over 25 years. It works closely with Senior Property Management Officers within NSW Department of Industry, Crown Lands and Water.
