Successful projects will be announced in September.
Modernising our Sylvania Heights Community & Youth Club
After 40 years of continuous community use, SHCYC’s amenities are no longer fit for purpose and in need of upgrading.
What’s this project about?
The existing change room facilities have deteriorated to a point where they are hardly used, cramped and a major barrier for female participants. We're keen to refurbish, so the local community can access modern and fit-for-purpose amenities. The redesign will include female-friendly amenities and refit existing change rooms, so they support the diverse range of community activities and major sports promoted by SHCYC. Better facilities foster stronger engagement and participation.
The project will benefit the community by promoting sport, health and fitness activities available through the community club. Modernising our facilities will boost community engagement by making our facilities more attractive to users who want to take advantage of the club’s activities, fields and other spaces. An upgrade to our amenities will assist in ensuring that SHCYC remains an important asset for the broader community to use all year round.
Although the project will be led by SHCYC management in accordance with existing governance, it is likely to be managed through a dedicated committee of volunteer members who represent the major activities and sports offered at the club. In addition, the club will engage expertise from our local community and experts to ensure that all necessary government, sporting codes and guidelines are satisfied. The project can commence in late 2019.
Why should you vote for this project?
- My plan is to modernise the Sylvania Heights Community & Youth Club's ageing amenities and create female-friendly change rooms.
- Help SHCYC continue its proud history of offering recreational opportunities to the local community through safe, secure and fit-for-purpose amenities.
- Having modern and new facilities will encourage more people to participate in sport, health and fitness activities offered by SHCYC.
